Jon Wilner called it an “epic administrative failure”. Pat Forde described it as latest in a “festival of dysfunction.” 44 days after the NCAA Committee on Infractions announced that bowl bans would be a thing of the past because they unfairly punished players and coaches who were not involved with the violations, Ray Anderson announces that ASU will be self-imposing a bowl ban with the season starting in only 4 days. ASU fans all over the internet agree with Senior transfer Chris Edmonds who reportedly said, “Wish it could’ve happened last year.” Sadly, Ray was perfectly within his purview as Athletic Director to self-impose a bowl ban for the previous season.

This decision means Herm Edwards misses out on another consequence resulting from his tenure as head coach.
